Material choice is the decision that shapes cost, appearance and how much attention the fence needs later. Aluminum keeps sight lines open and is the usual answer for pool enclosures, sloped rear yards and neighborhoods with view restrictions. Vinyl gives full privacy without staining or sealing. Wood is the most affordable way to enclose a large yard and can be built board on board or horizontal for a more architectural look.

Middle Tennessee soil moves. Much of Williamson and Rutherford County sits on shallow limestone, so post holes hit rock at depths that would be simple digging elsewhere, and clay heavy yards in Wilson and Davidson County swell and shrink through the season. Both conditions punish a fence set carelessly.

We set posts to depth for the material and the soil we actually find, keep the line straight through grade changes with proper stepping or racking, and hang gates on posts sized for the weight they carry. That is the difference between a fence that still closes cleanly in year eight and one that sags in year two.

Most of the neighborhoods we work in have an architectural review process, a height limit and an approved material list. Rutherford, Williamson, Wilson and Davidson County each handle residential fence permitting differently, and corner lots, easements and drainage swales add their own rules.
